Same goals , new challenges ?

If you tried ( and failed) to set a New Year’s Resolution or several , in the past , I know it might be hard to believe in yourself and  your capacity to come through with your plans and goals . Non- Accomplishment brings negativity , repeated failures breaks your confidence .

But why do you have to wait for a particular date to do something if it’s really important to you ? Your short term and long term goals are not bound by any date.

It’s surely challenging and sometimes overwhelming when you have to handle multiple responsibilities and demands . The good news is that you CAN achieve your goal and become what you aspire ! We don’t get what we want in life , we get what we believe we can.

If you develop a healthy obsession with something , you will find a way to get where you need to go. Have the big picture in mind at all times and remember we can conquer our fears by confronting them.

Maintaining your resolutions is based on a combination of personal discipline . Recognise that excuses are just that- excuses . They are only valid reasons to stop us from growing .

A few tips:

  • It doesn’t matter how active you are through the day if you aren’t producing much
  • Keep the big picture in mind motivating yourself for everyday tasks based on your long term vision .
  • Link the new habit you want to build with an old habit.
  • De-stress- your own state of mind is an important part of sticking with your commitments
  • Use self-talk to remind yourself about your “why” for your resolution and courage your own motivation and capabilities.
  • Track your progress
  • Reward yourself
  • And don’t forget, you need to have: self-control, deliberate action, planning, the ability to prioritise
